The Hooters Cup Series begins it’s 17th year on May 21st at the Hooters of Orland Park. So what exactly is the Hooters Cup Series? It has earned the title of the most successful series of Car & Bike Shows in Chicago. HCS XVII, this year’s series of shows, will have thirteen shows on the schedule located all throughout the greater Chicagoland area in eight different cities/towns. The HCS-XVII will run through Chicago-O’Hare, Schaumburg, Aurora, Joliet, Orland Park, Melrose Park, Downers Grove, and Hooters of Countryside. The series will once again present some of the nicest awards around. In addition, each award winner at each show will be issued points based on the quality of their win. Double K will track these points from each show to determine the Top Performers & ultimately the HCS-XVII Grand Champions for Car & Bike categories. The series allows Cars & Bikes to compete against each other all throughout Chicago & the Burbs. Thus pitting some of the best of the best against each other in a season long series that culminates with a Grand Champion.
After sixteen years, the series continues to grow with each passing year as has the breadth and depth of the competition. With the completion of sixteen different series, there are now 16 Grand Champions in Car & Truck categories. Each Grand Champion are unique and different from one to the other. From Street Rods to Custom Built Bikes, each is a beautiful specimen of machinery. Each showcasing the quality of workmanship instilled in the design and throughout the build. Once a Grand Champion, always a Grand Champion! Meaning these great rides are retired from competition at future Hooters Cup Series. You might see a few of these beauties while on display at area shows including Double K show.
Often we are asked, “Is it necessary that I attend and compete at each show of the series to win an award?” Our answer always remains, “Nope. Nada. Not even.” In fact, as the series travels throughout the Chicago suburbs, many join in on the good times as the series rolls into their area. If you feel that you have a ride that can compete with the Best of the Best, then you might want to set your calendar and plan to attend each show possible. As the more you compete, your opportunities increase to gain points for the Grand Champion award. The show series offers same day registration, convenient locations, lunch off a menu and a whole lot of fun. The first 75 entries receive a dash plaque. And each participant and spectator receives their free commemorative show posters signed by the lovely Hooter Poster Girls. Yes, the ladies attend each show.
Double K & Hooters will continue to issue some of the best awards you can find in the show circuit. On Oct 15th, at the final Hooters Show, (Downers Grove) a Grand Champion for Hooters Cup Series XVII will be announced for both Car & Bike categories. A rain date for the Grand Champion Show is scheduled for Oct 22nd at the Hooters of Downers Grove if needed.
We’ll see you at the show!
